Plisse Floor Lamp

Plisse is a floor lamp designed by the designer Sebastian Herkner 2020 and produced by the brand Classicon. Floor lamp. Frame aluminium, black or bronze lacquered or brass anodised lacquered. Hand-blown lamp shade white satin-finished opal glass with pleated surface. Push switch integrated in top of frame, variably dimmable with memory function. Black felt gliders.

With his Bell Table design, which kicked off his cooperation with ClassiCon in 2012 and was the designers first step towards international recognition, Sebastian Herkner turned our usual perception of materials upside down. Herkner once again achieves this effect in a fascinating way with his Plisse Floor Lamp: the lampshade, like a sensual, weightless balloon of light, balances on a metal base. The trick: what is reminiscent of artfully pleated textile is in reality hand-blown glass. An elaborate artisan production process enables this soft, textile-like, visual effect and hence the realisation of Herkners vision. A dimmable LED light source creates the individually desired level of cosiness. The design of the Plissee Floor Lamp hence unites traditional craftsmanship with an industrial component and, not least through this combination, carries the unmistakable signature of Sebastian Herkner.
